Financial Analyst II
Basic Function/Nature and Scope
The Financial Analyst II focuses on short and long-term financial planning and or analysis of business operations for the purpose of measuring and forecasting future business performance. The incumbent will carry out financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and decision support. This mid-level position requires a strong understanding of financial principles and experience in financial analysis. This role works independently and collaboratively with senior analysts and management to provide insights that drive business performance. Incumbents provide financial analysis and modeling for internal customers. The role supports MRIGlobal’s leadership, Business Unit(s), and Mission Support team(s) with comprehensive financial planning and analysis (budgeting and forecasting). Provides financial insight to assist with operational and strategic decision-making. Incumbents anticipate management queries and can provide analyses which enhance timely review and decision-making. Successful incumbents will streamline and continuously improve internal processes. Incumbents are thoroughly familiar with, and effectively apply DAR/FAR regulations.
This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. This position interacts and works closely with staff across organizational lines. The incumbent works with a moderate level of guidance. Incumbents demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism and sensitivity with all subject matters.
Essential Functions

Financial Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze complex financial data and create detailed financial reports and summaries. Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis and provides explanation of actual-to-budget/forecast variances. Analyzes MRIGlobal’s sales/opportunity pipeline and provides support for sales/ bookings budgeting, forecasting, and on-going reporting. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to Mission Support and/or Business Unit Leadership team(s) to ensure understanding. Ensure data accuracy and integrity. Prepares and analyzes the periodic management reporting of financial results for the MRIGlobal and/or Business Unit leadership. Prepare regular financial reports, such as budget vs. actual analyses, profitability reports, and key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards. Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with financial policies and regulations. Maintain detailed financial documentation.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Modeling: Lead the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Collect and consolidate budget data from multiple sources. Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies. Prepares corporate forecasts and the annual budget; research and resolve business inquiries and explain financial implications. Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models to support strategic planning and business decisions for forecasting and scenario analysis. Contribute to the development of strategic plans by developing business cases and providing financial analysis and/or projections including rolling forecasts and long-term financial projections. Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of various assumptions on financial outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Support: Collaborate closely with other departments, such as accounting, operations, and sales, to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, representing the FP&A perspective. Establish strong working relationships with business unit leaders and stakeholders across the organization. Works with the Mission Support and/or Business Unit leader(s) and Project Managers to ensure business group budgets/ forecasts are understood, accurate, and up to date. Collaborate with leaders to understand and interpret financial results. Supports the review of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and creation and analysis of proposal cost estimates. Participates in audits and interfaces with government auditors to ensure understanding of financial data, methodology and applicability under appropriate government regulations.

Process Improvement, Mentorship & Training: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and process improvements based on financial data analysis. Leads development and implementation of internal business tools and processes, including assessment and review of software solutions. Provide mentorship and training to junior financial analysts in financial analysis techniques, modeling, and FP&A best practices. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the financial acumen of cross-functional teams. Promote continuous improvement within the FP&A team and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform detailed ad hoc financial analyses to support various business initiatives, management request and special projects (such as tracking capital expenses and the associated depreciation). Conduct research and analysis on specific financial topics or initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related degree
- 5 years of FP&A experience in finance and/or accounting roles

- Preferred Qualifications
- CPA and/or MBA.
- Extensive knowledge of DAR/FAR and other applicable government regulations.
- Experience working within a government contracting organization and/or working with financial systems (Costpoint, IBM Cognos, and forecasting tools).
