The Finance Business Analyst in Elections provides accounting and financial services to ensure revenue and expenses are allocated accurately, and audit findings are minimized.

We Require
- Two (2) years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
We Also Value
- Three or more years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants management, or purchasing.
- Experience in government finance and working with procurement and grants.
- Experience using the Advantage Financial System.
Job Contributions
- Acts as a back-up in the absence of the Finance Manager.
- Analyzes, develops, maintains, and reports a department’s budget and strategic plan.
- Conducts research on budget and financial matters to assist in the development of the department budget and staff projections.
- Research accounting issues and processes journal vouchers when appropriate to correct accounting transactions.
- Maintains accounting and financial records to ensure the appropriate back-up is on file for audit purposes.
- Acts as a liaison for the department grant program prepares comprehensive grant reconciliations and quarterly HAVA reports in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
- Analyzes and tracks capital improvement project costs and inputs capitalized costs into the county accounting system.
- Oversees the department’s fixed assets and collaborates with IT to conduct audit of capital asset inventory on a yearly basis and provides reconciliation reports to the Department of Finance.
- Serves as department liaison to the Maricopa County Department of Finance and Budget.
- Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the department finance division.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Extensive mandatory overtime during the election cycles. This position occasionally requires lifting a minimum of 20 lbs for a minimum distance of 20 feet.
