Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant – Operational Accounting is to perform varied audit and accounting functions for operational audits for all gaming, hotel and complimentary revenues including but not limited to, recording of journal entries, account reconciliations, tax preparations, and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely, accurate completion of all assigned Blackline tasks or assignments.
- Prepare journal entries for daily audits and monthly journal entries as part of the month-end closing process for all gaming, non-gaming and complimentary revenues.
- Prepare month-end, quarter-end and annual close of the general ledger accounts that pertain to gaming and non-gaming operations.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of all month-end, quarter-end, and annual compliance requirements of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), Clark County, State of Nevada and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
- Ensure financial output documents, including reports to management, are accurate and timely in accordance with GAAP and LVSC’s accounting policies.
- Ensure compliance with the property internal control standards, the established Minimum Internal Control Standards, and the regulations and statutes established by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
- Assist with preparing and submission of taxes and bad debt documentation for reporting as required.
- Perform the timely, accurate and complete reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts that pertain to gaming and non-gaming audits.
- Preparing and/or review all gaming and/or non-gaming revenue journals.
- Review all package programs and ticketing calculations to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Must be able to analyze balance sheet fluctuations, review profit & loss statements and provide pertinent information to upper management.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- 2 – 3 years of finance or accounting experience.
- Familiar with general ledger operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- High ethical standards, level of commitment and ability to cope with complexity and change.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of gaming/non-gaming audits and statutory and regulatory requirement.
- Demonstrated experience in reconciling balance sheet accounts as well as experience in creating reports as needed with minimum supervision.
- Must possess strong time management skills, attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
