Lonza is currently hiring for a Senior Project Manager – Innovation. This role reports out of our Walkersville, MD site but is a remote position based anywhere on the East Coast. The Senior Project Manager leads complex projects and/or multiple projects, mentors junior project managers, oversees multiple project streams, analyzes project performance and communicates project status to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting cross-functional teams for a variety of New product introduction projects across different product portfolios.
- Manages project timelines and monitors team adherence to project plans; accountable for ensuring project plans/timelines are entered, accurately completed and updated in the different systems.
- Responsible for first line of communication into and from the project team. Leads the project team in maintaining open and timely communication on project status, budget, and scope.
- Facilitate effective project meetings, finalize meeting minutes and manage change in a matrix environment, assist in authoring project specific documents.
- Proactively identify risk, assist in developing mitigation plan, and works with Project Team to resolve issues. Responsible for escalating critical problems to stakeholders when necessary.
- Carry out Lesson Learned process with the project teams at the end of agreed key milestones within the project.
- Drives best practices across project teams and develops and implements fit-for-purpose tools to efficiently support Project Teams.
- This is a highly visible position that will apply fit-for-purpose project management in order to advance pipeline projects through Lonza’s governance process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Life Science or Project Management.
- Proven experience in project management approaches and methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Scrum).
- Proven experience in managing project teams.
- 5+ years of project management experience in new product development and related experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered a plus.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
- Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience working with teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $103,500 and $120,750. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the successful candidate, qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
