Parts Advisor Job Summary:
Perform a variety of customer service, in store, marketing, promoting, advertising, and stocking duties related to the receiving, sale and delivery of parts and accessories that contribute to the efficient, safe, and profitable operation of the dealerships parts department.
Responsibilities:
- Support Customers and Mechanics to assure they get the proper parts which they request
- Provide advice on other parts which may be needed for the application which will be performed
- Keep current on new products and product updates
- Complete dealership training related to parts
- Return warranty items in a timely manner
- Complete all paperwork
- Take necessary steps via paperwork or PC to maintain accurate inventory counts
- Assure parts are labeled correctly and packaged to prevent damage
- Follow daily inventory control procedures and participate in inventory counts when needed
- Control quality by properly cleaning, identifying and inspecting component parts prior to putting them into inventory
- As needed assist internal customers who need parts pulled for work orders
- Work closely with management to learn and to develop the best practices and procedures and find ways in which to increase productivity
- Communicate with supervisors, parts department employees and other departments any issue related to performing the duties of this position
- Understand OSHA regulations as related to day-to-day operations of the Warehouse
- Determine part availability and submit emergency orders as required
- Place stock orders utilizing the best practice criteria outlined by both Bentley and OEM
- Locate difficult part items through experience, observation and available resources (computers and/or printed materials)
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick up
- Notify the Shop Foreman and the customer that ordered parts have been received
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, and 2 years in warehouse / parts environment or 5 years in lieu of HS Diploma
- Must have valid driver's license with good driving record
- Automotive / Truck experience a plus
- Math skills relating to inventory management
- Proven history of PC use in a business, education setting
- Must be able to work with inventory, requires stooping, kneeling, stretching, and at times using a small ladder to reach certain locations
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 65 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to work in a shop environment
- Must have ability to recognize numbers and differentiate between numbers that are close
- Very strong attention to detail and strong mathematical aptitude
- High initiative for process improvement and customer service
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Automotive/warehouse experience a plus
- Must have legible handwriting so that others can accurately identify part numbers, quantities, etc.
