Kearney & Company is seeking an experienced PP&E Senior Consultant to join our Intelligence Community (IC) practice! The Senior Consultant will demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of audit, accounting, and financial management concepts associated with Property, Plant, and Equipment (PPE), and apply them to client situations, as well as identify and effectively communicate matters to the PPE Lead, Partner, Principals, and teammates.
This work will be conducted on site in Springfield, VA.
Responsibilities
- Assessing compliance with relevant PPE Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS) for all classes of property (e.g., SFFAS 6, SFFAS 50)
- Documenting and maintaining business process documentation for the full asset lifecycle for material classes of property
- Testing internal controls over the acquisition, physical inventory, and disposal of property
- Developing and implementing strategies to address audit issues related to completeness, existence, and valuation across all property classes
- Analyzing posting logic related to property transactions
- Analyzing transactions and records to assist with the maintenance of property transactions and balances
- Reviewing accounting entries made to the client’s general ledger system and related financial reporting footnotes and disclosures
- Providing training to process owners and users on asset lifecycle processes and controls in a manner that improves the accuracy and validity of property records
- Coordinating walkthroughs and site visits, providing responses to PBC requests, and preparing, implementing, and monitoring Corrective Action Plans
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or a related relevant field
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably in the Federal government or similar environment conducting financial statement auditing, commercial financial statement auditing, and/or DoD/IC financial management experience
- Minimum of 4 years of performing detailed general ledger analysis, audit remediation, Federal financial reporting, and/or specific property valuation efforts
- Technical competency, knowledge, and professional care commensurate with completion of assignments, and an eagerness to learn and absorb new technical and industry-specific information
- Knowledge and familiarity with SFFAS 6, SFFAS 50, and other property related accounting standards
- Ability to analyze large volumes of data
- Ability to independently research data and reconciling variances
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Active TS/SCI with current Counterintelligence Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CISA, CIA, or other relevant-industry certifications, or the required education levels to obtain a relevant certification
- Experience implementing and sustaining complex property remediation efforts and/or the implementation of new SFFAS or other regulatory guidance (e.g., SFFASs 10, 50, 54, 59), including but not limited to developing and applying valuation methodologies, applying pricing guides and other factors, etc.
- Experience testing internal controls over the acquisition, physical inventory, and disposal of property
- Experience coordinating walkthroughs and site visits, providing responses to PBC requests, and preparing, implementing, and monitoring Corrective Action Plans
- Experience/expertise in providing assessments and improvements of financial statement auditability plans

The expected salary range for this position is between $103,000 and $180,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
