This advertisement is for a full-time, Career Service position located at Region 1 Maintenance Office in the Maintenance Department.

Specific Duties:
This is a highly advanced position requiring a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the commercial construction field. The position serves as a Subject Matter Expert for new construction and major maintenance repair and renovation projects at institutional facilities Statewide.
The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Serve as Team Lead for plumbing, electrical, cabinetry/carpentry, masonry, HVAC, drywall, roofing, and associated systems necessary to operate a major institution.
- Assist in training correctional institutions General Maintenance staff within the region.
- Administer construction projects accomplished by a Construction Manager or General Contractor.
- Administer construction projects accomplished by agency personnel and inmate labor.
- Develop work plans, project budgets, and project schedules.
- Oversee the establishment of work crews.
- Prepare materials and cost estimates.
- Prepare schedules of values.
- Establish specifications, prepare bid packages, analyze bids and recommend awards, review and approve shop drawings.
- Make periodic visits to job sites to review progress and resolve construction problems.
- Review and approve invoices.
- Brief supervisors on the progress of projects, conduct substantial and final inspections, and certify completions.
Required Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience in the commercial construction field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Florida commercial contractor's license in one or more trades of general building.
- Formal training and/or education on construction management or trades, architecture, or engineering.
