Description
The Power Market Consultant will utilize knowledge in the electric utilities power generation and transmission industry to perform tasks for client project portfolio generation and transmission planning decisions. The consultant will perform a broad range of studies and other consulting services to help clients make decisions backed by business and engineering analysis. This role will contribute to the execution of technical studies and work with project managers to lead the technical execution for projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform a broad range of studies and other consulting services to support electric utilities and asset developers regarding their investments and power supply requirements, such as integrated resource planning, market assessments, valuations, and power supply RFP evaluations.
- Utilize power supply planning software for forecasts and evaluations.
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation of engineering, financial, and economic conditions and results.
- Analyze life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, and performance estimates.
- Conduct technical and business-related risk assessments associated with regulatory agency rules.
- Develop detailed financial analyses using various software.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results.
- Assist project managers in business development activities, including proposal development and client relationships.
- Mentor and train other employees on technical and business aspects of projects.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar field from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of related experience or a Master's Degree in the same fields and 2 years of experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience associated with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
- Experience with power supply planning software, preferably EnCompass.
- Knowledge of general business and financial calculations.
- Understanding of electric power options and power supply purchase agreements.
- Ability to execute various power markets/power supply planning studies.
- Knowledge of electric utility systems and power generation types.
- Familiarity with power market regions and independent system operators.
Skills required:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work methodically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
Compensation Range: $129,000.00 - $235,000.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with local/state regulations. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility for a year-end incentive bonus program.
