General Summary
Oversees a team that manages multiple independent product development projects and ensures that successful projects deliver on time, to budget, and to specification. Manages the needs of the projects and monitors overall costs and risks of the program.
Primary
Responsibilities:
- Provides program oversight, ensuring that sound program management skills, including proper planning, task scheduling, and budget tracking are performed.
- Oversees the proper coordination and prioritization of resources across projects.
- Interacts with clients from project initiation through the entire development process.
- Provides management and leadership to product development program management team, including coordinating program allocations and priorities, training, performance management, professional development, and coaching.
- Organizes product development project management staff to accomplish goals efficiently.
- Achieves staff results by communicating job expectations; planning monitoring and appraising job results; coaching and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Leads continuous improvement and change within functional area.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Understanding of mechanical engineering development processes
- Understanding of electronics and software development
Familiarity in the design of complex medical capital equipment and disposable devices
- Sound program management skills
- In-depth knowledge of company people management policies and procedures, including hiring, performance management, corrective action, and compensation administration
- Advanced people management and mentoring skills including coaching, interviewing, and providing feedback and recognition
- Strong leadership skills including change management, people management, strategic thinking and influencing
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to communicate complex business concepts to a multi-disciplinary audience
- Strong ability to structure a scalable team to promote quality deliverables
Internal Relationships: Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations’ effective achievement of objectives.
Problem Solving: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
Required Experience:
- 8-12 years of relevant work experience, including 3-5 years as a functional manager
