Job Summary:
PRN = 4 shifts per 6 weeks. We care for adult patients across 37 Vanderbilt Adult Hospital units treated for various medical conditions (Med Surg, Stepdown, and ICU). 1 year of previous acute care experience is highly preferred. If you don’t have prior acute care experience, we recommend applying to a unit-based position until your skills become proficient. If you don't have healthcare experience, apply for a Care Partner Trainee position, which provides three weeks of paid training.
In this role, you will assist with delivering patient care and maintaining unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will administer ADLs, vitals, lab draws, acute checks, place foleys, and straight caths. Our orientation is structured and rigorous; attendance is required during the first week for training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
- Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
- Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit standards.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
- Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including vital signs and phlebotomy.
- Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Limited experience with clinical applications for patient documentation.
- Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Limited experience with setup and maintenance of patient exam rooms and supplies.
- Planning & Organizing (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrates ability to set priorities and organize work for own assignments.

Experience Level: Less than 1 year
Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required)
