POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) interacts directly with patients, providing comfort and transportation, monitoring their vital signs, assisting with daily living needs, and assisting the nurses in the treatment and care of the patients in accordance with the established methods, protocols, policies, and procedures of the hospital. The CNA's responsibilities encompass compliance with The Joint Commission standards, CMS, OSHA, IDPH, and state regulations.
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) supports patient care delivery by providing clerical duties of various patient care units. His/her primary responsibility is to coordinate patient care across many functional departments. The Health Unit Coordinator is proficient at reading basic single lead telemetry monitoring and can identify basic life-threatening arrhythmias. The HUC's responsibilities encompass compliance with The Joint Commission standards, CMS, OSHA, IDPH, and State regulations.
Education
- Must be a high-school graduate or successfully completed the GED.
- Must have completed a Nursing Assistant Program and be certified in the state of Illinois.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Must complete a Basic Dysrhythmia class annually.
- Must be currently CPR certified.
- Previous Medical/Surgical experience desirable.
- Must be in good physical and mental health, and able to work under pressure.
- Must have good communication skills.
- The ability to operate designated computer equipment.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Requires long periods of standing at times.
- Requires quick movement, agility, and fast response time.
- Requires direct patient contact with potential exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Frequent lifting and/or handling of light weight items.
- Occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds or more with an assistive device and/or physical assistance.
- Frequent repositioning of patients.
- Ability to perform CPR - a strenuous activity.
