Job Role Summary
The Staff Nurse III performs all functions of Staff Nurse II, providing professional nursing care to patients. This position functions independently as a practitioner, demonstrating superior problem-solving decision-making and critical thinking skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Performs all functions of Staff Nurse II, providing professional nursing care to patients.
- Provides direct patient care as needed and acts as a technical expert and resource.
- Functions as a clinical expert, clinical consultant, and resource to nursing unit staff.
- Coordinates unit level quality management and performance improvement activities.
- Monitors and evaluates care and practice for self and others.
- Coordinates assignment, unit staffing, and scheduling based on established standards.
- Facilitates efficient patient throughput, including appropriate bed placement.
- Ensures discharge planning occurs in collaboration with case management.
- Functions as a clinical coach and resource for other clinical coaches.
- Supports consistent regulatory readiness for the unit/area.
- Functions as a charge nurse and shift coordinator.
- Acts as a resource for unit/area emergencies and disasters.
- Participates in the evaluation of staff by providing input and support.
- Coordinates special programs within area of expertise as delegated.
Job Requirements
• Current Indiana License as a Registered Nurse
• Graduation from a nationally accredited college or university
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Additional certifications and specialty skills related to designated area of practice
• Minimum of three to five years of clinical nursing experience as a registered nurse
• BSN preferred
