Overview
The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population-specific care. He/She must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirements and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings.
The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Director.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for the unit by organizing and prioritizing care by communicating and collaborating with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide continuity of care.
- Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement.
- Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of needs and tasks for care of the Progressive Care Patient.
- Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures, documentation, educational, and procedural teaching of the patient (includes formulating care plans and documenting outcomes).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensure/Certification: Must have valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing; BLS certification within 1 year of hire; Prefer Basic Dysrhythmia class prior to working in PCU; required within one year; ACLS within 1 year of hire; PALS certification within 1 year of hire.
- Work Experience: Prefer one year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse; Successful completion of hospital orientation.
