Job Overview
This is a union position. The HealthRIGHT 360 Adult Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program is located on the Be Well Orange County campus, which brings together mental health care services uniting public, private, academic, and faith-based organizations in a cooperative partnership that helps facilitate communication, bridge gaps, and eliminate barriers to care. The result is a more compassionate system of care that works better for everyone in the community.
The 24/7/365 residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program provides 3.1, 3.3, and 3.5 ASAM levels of care for males and females, as well as 3.2 withdrawal management. There are 15 beds allocated for 3.1/3.5, 15 beds for 3.3 and 12 beds for 3.2, for a total of 42 beds.
The On-Call Therapist I/II/III is a registered professional who maintains a current registration with the BBS or CBP. The On-Call Therapist I/II/III is responsible for clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, interventions, crisis interventions, and discharge planning. The On-Call Therapist I/II/III works in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible treatment outcome for the client and provide treatment in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360's philosophy, goals, policies, mission, and vision. The On-Call Therapist I/II/III may provide treatment utilizing different modalities including individual, group, and family therapy. Services may be provided in outpatient office, residential treatment, or the field, based on client and program need. The On-Call Therapist I/II/III participates in the on-call rotation and may be required to respond after hours. As per the contract, all staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have the most recent booster.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Service:
- Provides thorough clinical assessments and diagnoses.
- Works with the client to develop client-centered treatment plans.
- Monitors treatment progress and updates the treatment plan as needed.
- Addresses mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms using individual, group, and/or family treatment.
- Provides thoughtful discharge planning to ensure the client safely transitions.
- Provides crisis assessment and intervention as needed.
- Seeks clinical consultation throughout the treatment episode and when encountering new and/or high-risk clinical circumstances.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the treatment team including the Case Manager, Counselor, Medical, and Psychiatrist.
- Maintains frequent communication with the treatment team and engages in regular consults, clinical team, case conferences, and plan development meetings.
- Delivers services in outpatient, residential, or field depending on assignments and client need.
- Assists with crisis assessment, crisis intervention, and symptom management within assigned programs by providing 24-hour, 7-day per week after-hours coverage on rotation with other Clinical Therapists.
- Meets expected client care hours (productivity expectation is 50% of work hours are spent providing direct service care).
Clinical Documentation:
- Writes and completes all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.
- Maintains compliance with due dates for all clinical documentation including: assessment, treatment plan, treatment plan updates, re-assessments, discharges, outcome measures, and other clinical documents.
- Writes client progress letters and court reports and obtains final approval from the supervisor.
- Documentation must maintain compliance with agency policy and procedures, HIPAA, 42-CFR, DMH, and SAPC standards.
- Completes all assigned URCs within a timely manner.
Supervision and Quality Improvement:
- Maintains full compliance with BBS or CPB regulations.
- Attends and actively participates in Clinical Group Supervision.
- Actively participates in agency and team meetings.
- Participates in training opportunities and pursues certifications in Evidence Based Practices.
- Communicates collaboratively with all members of the behavioral health team including: medical, mental health, psychiatry, substance use disorder, and other staff.
- Completes all assigned trainings and Relias trainings in a timely manner.
Professionalism and Other Duties:
- Arranges work schedule in accordance with the agency's needs.
- Attends regular staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Reads emails daily and responds when appropriate.
- And other duties as assigned.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education Requirements:
- MSW, MFT, LPCC, or PsyD from a regionally accredited graduate school and registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or the California Board of Psychology (CBP) and in good standing with the Board.
Experience:
- Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience providing DMH or SAPC services as a therapist.
- Preferably experience treating clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of and experience with providing trauma-informed services.
- Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Background Clearance Required:
- Live scan fingerprint clearance.
- Must not be on parole or probation for a minimum of two years.
Other Requirements:
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster shots; there are no medical or religious exemptions available for this position.
- First Aid certified within 30 days of employment.
- CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
- Must be able to pass TB test upon hire and annually.
Knowledge Required:
- Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Outlook, and internet applications.
- Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
