JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Wound Care Specialist works together with Olympic Medical Physicians clinicians to manage and treat the wounds of patients of the OMP Wound Clinic. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients in the clinic. Provides coordination of care for patients. Possesses the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements concerning his or her needs for advanced wound care in the outpatient setting. This includes necessary wound equipment needs and wound care management as deemed necessary or as assigned/ordered by the referring or attending provider. Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the outpatient clinical setting. Demonstrates the values contained in the Olympic Medical Center mission and philosophy statements. Supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing.
EDUCATION: BSN required. Successful completion of an accredited Wound Management Program.
EXPERIENCE: Three to five years’ Wound Care experience in home health, hospital (acute or intensive care) or other health care setting preferred. Previous case management experience preferred.
LICENSURE/CREDENTIALING: Washington State RN license required. Wound Care Nurse certification (CWCN) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
