Practice Description
M Health Fairview is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our well-established and growing Neurosurgery practice.
In this role, the PA will practice independently and collaboratively to deliver care to a wide variety of neurosurgery and orthopedic-spine patients with acute and traumatic conditions of the brain and spine, and chronic and surgical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient settings to include clinic, emergency room, intensive care unit, operating room, and neurosurgical unit. As a surgical first assistant, you will work closely with the surgeon in surgery.
Practice Details:
- Join a close-knit team of 6 Neurosurgeons and soon to be 13 APP’s providing outstanding neurosurgical care.
- Our APP team enjoys a 1:1 assignment with a Physician.
- Enjoy a wide breadth of practice in a variety of settings that include the opportunity to be in surgery.
- Independently and collaboratively manage patients with a variety of neurological conditions of the brain and spine with varying acuity in the inpatient setting.
- The group enjoys a strong reputation in the community, excellent referral network, and a full array of resources for patients and providers as part of a large academic affiliated health system.
- Cutting-edge technologies utilized during surgery, which recently included a ‘first in the world’ double infusion implant in a clinical trial!
- Weekend call and holidays equally shared among the team - currently 1:7. Occasional weekday evening/night call.
- As a surgical first assistant, responsible for identifying patient barriers to surgery and facilitating resolution, maintaining the sterile field, understanding the procedure being performed, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, maintaining a knowledge base, maintaining quality patient care during the operative procedure, and being constantly vigilant that all members of the team adhere to aseptic technique. Expected to independently prepare and position the patient for surgery, assist in visualization of the operating field, provide hemostasis, perform closure of incisions, apply various wound dressings, and manage the patient postoperatively.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- BC/BE through the NCCPA.
- Licensed or ability to obtain a PA license through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- BLS certified
- Experience in Neurosurgery and/or Neuro critical Care preferred.
