Summary:
Coordinates and manages staff, material and financial resources to achieve patient outcomes. Serves as a clinical role model using the nursing process to direct, provide and evaluate age specific patient care. Ensures patient care standards are carried out and validates nurse competencies. Serves as a change agent and participates in unit and organizational committees. Provides clinical leadership and support to the department. Serves as a working manager able to perform duties of a RN in the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities:
Key customers are patients, families, staff, all ancillary/support persons, physicians, peers, all other departments and staff. Assures friendly, helpful and courteous response to all customers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required or obtained within three years, MS in Nursing, Business or related field preferred.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT- 3 - 5 years Emergency Department Nursing experience. 1 - 3 Years Leadership experience.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION- Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of N.C.; Certification in field of expertise preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS- Sound clinical knowledge and practice of ED Nursing. Good teambuilding and problem-solving skills. Supervisory skills. Good verbal and written communication skills, comprehension skills. Basic computer knowledge. Good public relations and inter-relations skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and airborne pathogens. Possible exposure to electrical hazards, chemical hazards, radiation, toxic waste. Occasional exposure to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Use of medical/clinical equipment such as IV pumps, monitors, ventilators, O2 tanks, patient beds, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT- Continuously standing, walking, sitting majority of workday. Some carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting involved in day-to-day activities. Sufficiently mobile to push stretchers, wheelchairs, carts and equipment. Visual acuity necessary; hearing and talking necessary for communication. Lift and position patients of all weights and heights.
