JOB TITLE / DEPARTMENT: Nordic Program Supervisor / Mountain Operations
POSITION TYPE: Seasonal: Weekends, Weekdays & Holidays
WAGE RANGE: $20/hr to $21/hr
SUPERVISORY: Yes
SUPERVISED BY: Mountain Ops Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Nordic Supervisor will schedule and direct Nordic hosts and Nordic Coordinator. Maintain the Nordic program working with several mountain departments and administration. Ensures the Nordic crew makes contact with visitors throughout the ski area and, in conjunction with the Mountain Operations Director. Daily assessment of trail conditions of the Nordic trail network.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Schedule and direct Nordic crew in providing visitor information, and guidance. Stay informed of daily events around mountain and village.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must ski/snowshoe in all conditions on all terrain, may ski/snowshoe up to 4-6 hours per shift. Will walk and stand on snow & icy surfaces for up to 8 hours per shift. May occasionally work in extreme weather conditions including but not limited to high winds, rain, snow, and sub-zero temperatures. Will lift up to 35 lbs. frequently, up to 100 lbs. occasionally; assistance available for heavy lifting. Will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist and reach above shoulder level occasionally.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a crew of 5 + employees. May assist Ski Patrol in support for emergency situations. Performs other guest service actions as required. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:SKILLS: Upper level Nordic skiing and/or snowshoeing skills required. Must have an outgoing, energetic positive attitude. Ability to multi-task, give clear direction, problem solve, and remain calm under pressure.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: General knowledge of ski resort operations, including strong familiarity with Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
LICENSE NEEDED: None
MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED: Handheld 2-way radios, battery operated drill, shovels, rakes and other hand tools. Ticket Scanning Tablet.
REVIEW SCHEDULE: This position and the individual filling it will be evaluated once per season.
