Physician assistants (PAs) practice medicine under the supervision of physicians. PAs are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by a physician. They work as members of the family medicine health care team, taking medical histories, examining and treating patients, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and x-rays, and making diagnoses. They also treat minor injuries by suturing, splinting, and casting. PAs record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order or carry out therapy. They also prescribe some medications.
Minimum Requirements
Education: The Physician Assistant will complete satisfactory passage of the national certifying examination for assistants to the primary care physician administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and will be certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
Experience: 3-5 years experience as a Physician Assistant in family medicine preferred.
Licenses/Certification: Certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners. Maintenance of current CPR or BLS.
Compensation
$52.79 - $66.86/hour DOE (evening, night and weekend shift differential pay)
