Responsible for providing surgical assistance in the operating room under the direction of a registered nurse or other designated operating room supervisor and assisting with departmental support activities following hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and sets up operating room.
- Assists surgical team during operative procedures.
- Performs terminal cleaning of operating rooms between cases.
- Completes and maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work, including risk management and performance improvement reports.
- Participates in cost containment and quality assurance programs.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent experience.
- BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
- Certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Formerly Liaison Council on Certification of Surgical Technologist.
Preferred:
- One year of surgical technologist experience.
