Responsible for coordinating the work of department staff and serving as the lead resource Tech to resolve problems, providing direction for personnel, and prioritizing and facilitating work flow to ensure the timely provision of Imaging services within the modality on a particular shift. Acts as a liaison between other departments and nursing units in order to effectively communicate and coordinate timely delivery of exams and reports. Assists with the assessment and communication of equipment service issues and works with Management and Supervisors to ensure that resolution has been met. Coordinates effective inventory control to ensure adequate supplies are in place. Assess staffing needs and communicate to Management the need for staffing adjustments to meet the work volumes. Responsible to coordinate the timely completion of exams and reviews and distributes daily Incomplete Exam Reports. In the absence of the supervisor, serves in a leadership role to ensure continuity of service. May attend meetings or participate in programs to improve operations or services. May assist supervisor with training of other personnel in new protocols, safety, and ongoing regulatory readiness.
May also perform all duties as required within the Technologist scope of work. Performs diagnostic medical radiographic procedures and studies with a thorough understanding of standard radiography and fluoroscopy. Utilize radiographic equipment in the operating room environment. Must be able to use knowledge and ability to assist physicians, interpret orders and explain procedures to RNs, patients and families. Secondary responsibilities include a thorough understanding of the department operations in order to assist non-technical staff in processing paperwork, films and expediting patient transportation. Primary work areas include Diagnostic Radiology for the Health System including, but not limited to: Skilled Nursing, Operating Rooms, Trauma/ER, etc.
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
