Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Location: Artesia, New Mexico
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for an outpatient setting with minimal inpatient float responsibilities. The PTA will provide physical therapy services in response to a physicians referral and under the supervision of a physical therapist in accordance with New Mexico state regulations. The PTA will focus on treating functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, and other patient needs. You will work with patients of all ages and assist in coordinating and providing patient and family education, while also collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
Essential Functions:
- Provide skilled treatment for functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, wounds, ambulation, and balance.
- Follow the plan of care that includes measurable functional goals, considering the patients psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Provide clear and timely documentation that meets APTA guidelines and bill for appropriate charges.
- Conduct family/caregiver/patient education to enhance independence post-discharge.
Additional Responsibilities:
- May be required to work occasional weekends.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to schedule and perform patient care independently.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of a nationally-accredited PTA program.
- Experience: Greater than one year of experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- License/Certification: Must be eligible for licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board. BLS certification required before employment begins.
