There is an opportunity available for a Radiology Technologist to join our team at Banner Desert Medical Center. Our state-of-the-art Level 1 Trauma Facility and Radiology department specializes in high-level care to patients with multiple complex diseases. As a Radiology Technologist Intraop, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and busy department with an average of 250-350 exams in a 24-hour period. You will care for both adult and pediatric patients in various settings that include inpatient, outpatient, Emergency department, OR, and Fluoroscopy. Staff are committed to delivering professional, compassionate care at all touch points throughout their stay. The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for identifying the patient, verifying the physician orders, and obtaining high-quality radiographs that will assist in the patient’s plan of care. National and AZ state RT Certification is required. BLS is required. Prior hospital, trauma, and/or pediatrics experience is highly preferred.
Duties:
- X-ray exams performed in ER, surgery, inpatient, and outpatient services.
Shift: 2p-1230a 4-10's, rotating every other weekend, holiday and call requirements.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs prescribed specialized radiographic procedures as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Medical Radiologic Technical Board of Examiners (MRTBE). This position ensures optimal care/treatment to all patient populations that are cared for in an operative setting.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Prepares for surgical procedures by setting up the imaging cart (if applicable) in accordance with each OR procedure, check laterality, uploads all patient information, ensures equipment is functioning as expected, and communicates with OR team regarding special imaging needs.
- Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions, fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
- Performs prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols, as well as under the guidelines of the accrediting agency ARRT and any applicable state licensing agencies.
- Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to radiation safety policies and holds any person within the OR suite to the same radiation safety policies prior to ionizing radiation being emitted.
- Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program. Requires national certification American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensure by state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification is required. This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with two years of related experience. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, ability to analyze data and solve problems.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
