New Jersey Director with Foster the Family
Foster the Family is a Christian-based organization that imagines a system where families welcoming children are supported by the church and community surrounding them and where homes become places of belonging for healing and vulnerable children.
We are a quickly growing organization with support groups and practical response programs in support of foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Our work is driven by Biblical ethics of caring for the vulnerable and is fueled by God’s love for them and for us. Internally, our team is a diverse group of champions, leading programs that operate in 35 states across the country.
Reports To: Executive DirectorPosition Status: Part-Time, 20 hour per
Location: Hybrid near Cherry Hill, NJCompensation: $26 per hour
Position Summary
The New Jersey Director is an integral part of a compassionate team and is responsible for the oversight, execution, and growth of Foster the Family operations in the South Jersey area. This person is an empathetic professional with an understanding of the child welfare system and how it impacts families. This role is mostly remote with in person meetings and events and leads a team of 2, including a part time Family Care Manager and full time Program Manager.
- Lead the New Jersey team in coaching, accountability, and overall expectations
- Strategize with the Executive Director and team to implement best ways to serve New Jersey foster, adoptive, and kinship families
- Ensure successful implementation of all Foster the Family programs, including Foster Care Packages, Respite Events, Family Gatherings, Support Groups, Trainings, and Events
- Oversees a location budget of just over $100,000
- Represent Foster the Family in the community and at various community events
- Manage partnerships with churches, state agencies, businesses, and other nonprofits in the area to further the mission of Foster the Family and better serve families as a united community
- Oversee fund development to include donor relations, grant writing, and other strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Pray with families and keep a prayer request log when families seek prayer support
- Provide Biblical foundation teaching and support to families who request it

- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
- Experience supporting vulnerable populations preferred
- Experience working in the nonprofit, child welfare, or ministry sector
- Experience and comfortability praying with those in need and leading Biblical discussions with families who ask
- Experience and skills in relationship development
- Understanding of the New Jersey foster care system preferred
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
