We are seeking to hire a Family Practice Registered Nurse at our Lisbon Clinic in Milwaukee, WI. This position does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays.

Founded in 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers is an independent non-profit organization that operates four clinic locations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Summary
The Registered Nurse will assist with performing telephone triage and addressing urgent walk-in triage of the clinic's patients by providing advice to patients of all ages and diagnoses by using algorithms/protocols and independent judgment. The RN will also assist with ranking patients according to the urgency of need, directing them to further care, as well as directing the patient to the appropriate emergency services, when necessary. In addition, the RN will recommend suggested medical follow-up based on their assessments and established triage protocols/algorithms, and provide healthcare information, as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Assess the severity of the patient's symptoms by evaluation of symptoms using established triage protocols/algorithms and then guide the patient to the appropriate level of care. If needed, direct the patient to the appropriate emergency services and recommend the suggested medical follow-up based on their assessment, and provide health care information, as necessary.
- Review and triage the lab and x-ray results received in the office and notify the healthcare provider of critical values.
- Make follow-up calls to high-risk patients to assess changes of status and ensure that follow-up treatment was sought out.
- Process medication refills, medication changes, and prepare samples accordingly to medical provider orders, and notifies the local pharmacies of the order(s).
- Perform patient education and instruction regarding medication regime and documentation such as medical records.
- Based on established protocols, administers oral, subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular, and all intravenous medications.
- Performs nurse visits (administration of TB, Depo, follow-up treatments, BP re-check) and documents all encounters accurately.
- Acts as a resource to medical support staff and collaborates with medical staff in carrying out delegated patient care activities.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Professional knowledge of practice acquired from an accredited program Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
- Currently licensed in the State of Wisconsin.
- Two years of general nursing in a clinic or hospital setting with experience with patients of all age groups preferred.
- Experience in a Community Health Center, a plus.
- Experience with EPIC is preferred.
It is mandatory that all employees, employed providers and volunteers are vaccinated. All hired candidates must submit proof of vaccination prior to their orientation. This is a mandatory requirement for Progressive Community Health Centers.
