Job Description
- Assist in planning the respiratory portion of the resident’s discharge plan as necessary.
- Interpret the respiratory department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
- Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of residents with airway needs as required.
- Receive/give report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours if assuming a direct care assignment.
- Provide Oxygen Therapy; tank, tent, mask, cannula, walker, high flow, etc. respiratory care.
- Coughing and deep breathing instruction and exercises and related maneuvers including, Incentive Spirometry.
- Aerosol Therapy; Bland and Medicated, Metered dose, Ambient, Ultrasonic, Sputum Induction.
- Chest therapy.
- IPPB, CPAP, and BiPAP Therapy
- Airway maintenance as to oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
- ABG interpretation and analysis.
- Consult with the physician and follow protocols for ventilator management including weaning, decannulation, and terminal weaning.
- Arterial puncture to obtain ABGs if required and after proper certification.
- Performs assessment of the patient, determining needs related to the frequency and duration of the treatment regime ordered by the MD.
- Requests re-order when necessary and communicates with nurse and MD about discrepancies and concerns.
- Initiates and follows through with protocols described in the policy and procedure manual and as approved by the department and medical/pulmonology director.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have an active and valid Respiratory Therapist License
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

Shift:
6pm - 6:30am (NOC)
6am - 6:30pm (Day)
