Primary tasks, duties, and responsibilities:
- Promotes and practices the primary care practice mission and values and follows all policies and procedures of Stratum Health System and Connexis Medical Services.
- Continuously acts as a representative of Stratum Health System and Connexis Medical Services providing high quality customer service for referral sources, external stakeholders and patients / families served,
- Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
- Reviews and updates clinical records to document disease process, prescribe medicines, assess the patient’s current status, and generally provide medical services in a usual and customary manner.
- Communicates, educates, and counsels patient/family in medical assessment, evaluation and plan of care.
- Maintains current knowledge and Continuing Medical Education per Florida standards as appropriate (MD or DO) and applies the latest and most current medical knowledge to the treatment of the patient as needed and appropriate for the patient’s specific circumstances.
- Identify and refer patients to the appropriate specialist or service provider based on the nature of the ailment and the health need of patients when further evaluation and management is indicated.
- Maintain universal precautions as well as infection control practices.
- Order appropriate diagnostic testing and interpret current tests and those performed in the past to inform medical diagnostic and therapeutic decision making.
- Complete all clinical documentation timely (within 48 hours of patient encounter) and accurately while ensuring compliance with all payers and regulatory bodies.
- Complete all time recording timely and accurately (i.e. medical director invoicing).
- Support, mentor and / or supervise APRNs, MAs, RNs, new colleagues, etc.
- Participates in on-call rotation as scheduled and needed.
- Any additional duties or tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Educational/Professional:
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty unless the Board Certification requirement is waived by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Continuing Medical Education must be kept up to date as outlined by your specialty.
- Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
- Minimum of two (2) years recent active geriatrics experience or a minimum of 5 years of internal medicine or family medicine outpatient experience.
- Must be eligible to receive Hospital Staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area unless the requirement is waived by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Current Federal DEA registration.
- No Medicare, Medicaid, or other Federal Program limitations or restrictions, including no DEA or other Prescribing limitations.
