ResponsibilitiesThe Therapeutic Apheresis Treatment Unit Ambulatory Nurse Manager is accountable for the implementation of the vision, mission and values of Mayo Clinic and the Departments of Nursing and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology within defined areas of practice. The Ambulatory Nurse Manager plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational, fiscal and personnel activities to ensure the provision of high-quality care in ambulatory and/or hospital-based procedural settings. The individual has oversight of and accountability for quality and service, regulatory compliance, work unit safety, strategic planning, document management, and developing and implementing new services. The individual contributes to the strategic planning process, and attainment of goals of the organization.
This position has full-time management responsibilities of clinical nursing staff. The Ambulatory Nurse Manager is responsible for the nursing component of the total budget and advocates for/allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing participative decision making in the practice. The Ambulatory Nurse Manager acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. The Ambulatory Nurse Manager is accountable for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
QualificationsGraduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program.
Preferred Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited Master's in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, business, or health related field as approved by Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee.
Minimum of three years of nursing practice or progressive leadership experience required. One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in the department's specialty preferred. Management experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Current state RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in which the RN practices. This RN job may require a RN license in multiple states.
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required by January 1, 2017). Maintains ACLS and PALS per specific unit guidelines. Any additional specialty certification/training required by the work area is highly recommended.
