General Description: Manage the operational activities of the New Business Regional Marketing Specialist unit/department. Actively market new prospective client accounts to carrier partners. Support commercial lines sales associates. Provide marketing analytics, negotiate carrier coverages, and finalize marketing and client onboarding process.
**This position offers flexibility in location and a hybrid schedule but employee must reside in USI's Midatlantic region (DE, MD, DC, PA, WV or VA) **
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for full-cycle recruitment, management, and development of assigned team. Includes monitoring staffing and workload, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Monitor team’s adherence to service standards through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
- Produce and monitor various monthly reports to ensure all new business has been addressed in a timely manner. Includes post-binding activities, team members open items, workloads, and backlog.
- Perform periodic quality audits, when necessary.
- Provide technical expertise in coordinating the service of new clients. Includes sales, account development, and problem solving. Act in accordance with client objectives, standards of service, and USI best practices.
- Serve as subject matter expert in USI’s proprietary platform and solutions. Includes the stewardship process.
- Contribute information and ideas during strategy meetings.
- Occasional outside visits to prospects as needed.
- Work closely with sales associates to understand prospect’s commercial lines insurance needs.
- Develop submissions to carriers and obtain quotes. Respond to underwriters’ inquiries.
- Negotiate terms with carriers on prospect’s behalf.
- Finalize the marketing process and prepare appropriate proposal presentations.
- Bind coverage for clients and execute client onboarding process.
- Develop knowledge of insurance markets on behalf of USI.
- Develop relationships with carrier underwriters and representatives.
- Serve as technical expert on market trends, pricing practices, and other underwriting policies.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management and document management systems.
- Keep current with industry, new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 10 years + experience in commercial property & casualty insurance agency. Comprehensive understanding of all property & casualty insurance coverages, underwriting, and rating concepts.
- College degree preferred.
- Prior managerial experience preferred. Ability to manage others effectively.
- Must hold state Property & Casualty insurance license.
- Industry designations such as ARM, CIC, and CPCU preferred.
- Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
- Working knowledge of internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of Sagitta/ImageRight preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Maintain relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
