POSITION: Director of Fiscal Services

SALARY RANGE: Classified Director on the Management Personnel Salary Schedule
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a closely related field;
- Five years of increasingly responsible professional accounting, school business management experience preferred;
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience and organization-level budget development responsibility;
- Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude, and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Chief Business Officer, plan, direct, implement, and report on budgetary, accounting, and other fiscal functions. Manage and supervise the work of a team of business services staff. Perform other related duties as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage the District budget including all income and expenditure accounts, funds, and account groups;
- Supervise the recording and maintenance of all financial transactions;
- Plan, organize, supervise, and report on the preparation of financial and statistical reports;
- Manage and coordinate annual financial and other audits;
- Maintain relationships with outside agencies and organizations relating to budget, accounting, and other fiscal matters;
- Plan, organize, recommend, and implement budgetary, accounting, and other fiscal procedures;
- Perform internal audits;
- Prepare data for financial projections, research studies, and negotiations;
- Prepare, file, and manage mandated cost claims and other financial claims and reimbursements;
- Assist budget managers in developing and managing budgets;
- Supervise, train and develop staff;
- Assist the Chief Business Officer with other tasks as assigned.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Plan, organize, and supervise maintenance of financial and statistical reports;
- Implement all phases of budgetary, accounting, and fiscal procedures;
- Effectively manage and develop staff;
- Advise colleagues, site leadership, and departmental leads in matters of fiscal management;
- Maintain high-performance standards under stress;
- Meet physical and/or mental requirements associated with tasks outlined in this position description;
- Ability to assemble, analyze, and utilize data and complete reports;
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Principles and methods of modern public business administration and management;
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
- Governmental accounting, auditing, and inventory control procedures;
- Financial analysis and research methodology and procedures;
- Principles of supervision and training;
- Proper auditing procedures and financial reporting;
- Computer accounting payroll systems;
- Full competency in the use of Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, Google Workspace, and other computer accounting systems;
- English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
