Purpose of the Job
This position is responsible to diagnose, manage, and treat disorders and diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves, with a primarily nonsurgical focus.
Job Functions
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care to people with epilepsy as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including detailed medical history reviews, examinations, and appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of neurological conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, which may include medication management, lifestyle modifications, and referrals to other specialists when necessary.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including primary care, specialists, hospitalists, and rehabilitation specialists, to ensure integrated care and optimal patient outcomes.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Neurology residency training program and Board Certified or Board Prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association.
- Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
- Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a residency program in pulmonology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Experience in performing bronchoscopy.
- Experience in ordering and interpreting imaging.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pulmonary conditions, including both common and rare disorders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest advancements in the field of neurology.
