This is a Regular, Part-Time (0.30 FTE (12 hours weekly) - FTE may be negotiable) position.
Reporting to the Health Officer, this position serves as medical director for opioid use disorder treatment at the agency's clinic. Work includes supervision of nurse practitioners who provide direct clinical services, process improvement and quality improvement for the clinic, and the administrative responsibilities required for the provision of methadone.

Some of what you'll do:
- Leads the day-to-day activities of direct reports: prioritizes work, plans, manages, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff and consulting contracts, assigns work activities, and coordinates schedules, projects, and programs.
- Supervises and manages staff, including hiring, training, timecard/time off approvals, performance management, investigations, and resolution of disciplinary matters.
- Effectively develops their direct reports.
- Ensures employees comply with Department policies and procedures, including policies around hours worked, ethics, time off, and harassment, among others.
- Provide in-person and telephone clinical consultation for nurse practitioners and other clinic staff.
- Provide training on clinical topics to clinic staff.
- Monitor patient charts for quality of medical services provided, and work with other administrators to develop or revise medical and other treatment intervention policies and procedures.
- Oversee all medical care provided within the clinic. Work closely with clinic staff to ensure the delivery of coordinated services to patients.
- Develop and review clinic policies, procedures, and operational approaches to ensure the provision of high-quality care, improve efficiency, and improve staff experience.
- Ensure the safety, security and accountability of methadone and other scheduled medications in the clinic.
- Interact with the local medical provider community on issues of continuity of care and education about substance use treatment.
- Provide oversight to ensure the clinic adheres to state and federal laws and policies for the provision of methadone.
- This work might require you to participate in the Title XIX Medicaid Claiming Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Emergencies
- When public health responds to an emergency you may be assigned duties and responsibilities that are outside your regular job description. This may involve responding at any time and reporting to a location other than the department with different working conditions and physical requirements. You are expected to participate in emergency preparedness activities including our emergency notification system, WA SECURES. Drills and real-world events may take place at any time.

Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree.
- Completion of residency training in psychiatry, family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, or preventive medicine.
- Experience with substance use care. This experience can be through a dedicated substance use care clinic or as part of primary care or other clinical practice.
- Addiction medicine fellowship training preferred.

Professional certifications and licensure
We require the below for this role.
- Active physician license in the state of Washington.
- Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
Work environment
- Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in a clinical office environment. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in medical office environments.
- Environmental conditions may entail a stressful work climate due to the nature of the job, i.e., work with patients who have experienced sexual abuse and other traumatic events.
- Clinic hours may start earlier than regular business hours.
- Work may offer hybrid schedule with one (1) day a week in-person.
- The potential for dealing with dissatisfied or angry customers exists, requiring skills in conflict resolution.
Physical demands
- Regularly required to sit or stand continuously.
- Regularly communicate clearly in-person, over the phone, and via written communication, including communicating with dissatisfied or angry individuals.
- Capable of reading physical and electronic documents and working for prolonged periods on a computer monitor.
