Western State Hospital (WSH) within the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking Primary Care Physicians to join the team in Lakewood – Pierce County, Washington.Our goal is to hire compassionate and dynamic Physicians who have the desire to work in an inpatient setting. Doctors at WSH become part of a closely-knit team of healthcare professionals who ensure that patients receive the best care possible. Working closely with multiple disciplines, you will have an influential voice related to the physical and medical needs of the people we serve. You will provide medical assessment and treatment in partnership with a dedicated team that views care with a holistic approach.We currently have an opening for night shift, 5 shifts a week. Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. There is an additional 5% premium pay for on-site work in addition to the advertised salary.
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. WSH is not driven by economics; this allows our staff the ability to focus on developing creative approaches to treatment and care. Your role within the hospital- Direct, review, and provide primary medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services to patients addressing medical emergencies and other acute concerns; prescribe necessary medication
- Perform admission and physical examinations, laboratory tests, evaluations
- Review medical histories, diagnostic tests, medication regimes, and clinical diagnostic procedures
- Perform minor surgical procedures, deliver emergency medical responses, and mortality and morbidity reviews
- Share Physician on-call duties during the day and call duties after administrative hours and weekends
Compensation and benefits- Offers a competitive salary along with 1.25 times regular pay when covering additional workloads, additional monthly pay for board certification, an excellent benefits package, and annual funding for continuing medical education. Relocation assistance available!
- $10,000 for Board Certification
- $5,000 annual allowance for CME courses

Your credentials- Completion of 3-year residency in Internal Medicine or Family Practice in an accredited training
program, recognized by the American Board of Internal Medicine or American board of Family Practice - Board Certified/qualified by the American board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Practice
