UCI Health hematologic oncologists provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with many different types of cancer. Our oncologists are highly skilled in the leading-edge treatments and many also participate in clinical trials. We strive to provide the best possible care, tailored for each patient's individual needs.
Your Role on the Team
The position of Hematology Oncology CIHT Infusion APP Physician Assistant in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology Division, requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be a critical part of the team caring for cancer patients at the UCI Medical Center. The Physician Assistant will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
This position may perform functions as appropriate to their 'scope of practice' which includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per their approved Practice Agreement. Familiarity with state statute for their licenses is necessary.

Required:
- Knowledge of the elements of a medical history and skill in the history-taking process.
- Expertise and appropriate physical exam skills.
- Demonstrated experience in review and use of standard protocols for chemotherapy and oncology patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Skill to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports and progress notes.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies.
- Applicant must have completed a physician assistant training program accredited by the ARC-PA.
- Licensure through the California Physician Assistant Board.
- Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) prior to employment start date.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Evidence of completion of Controlled Substances Education Course.
- National board certification by the NCCPA at the time of initial appointment.
- Must possess experience in educating patients and nursing staff in chemotherapy treatments.
- Previous Physician Assistant experience working with Hematology and Oncology patients.
- Hematology/Oncology Experience (at least 2 years).
- Infusion Center Experience (at least 2 years).
- Direct patient care for chemotherapy side effects.
