The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.
Your Role on the Team
Under general direction of the Senior Lead Physician and clinic physicians, the Sr. Physician Assistant provides medical services to patients on a regularly scheduled or walk-in basis.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $85.47- $100.14 (Hourly).
Required:
- Knowledge of diagnostic and medical practice covering an extensive and varied range of problems.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Protected Health Information (PHI), or other sensitive and personal information.
- Skills in taking medical history and performing physical exams.
- Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data, and progress notes. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Knowledge of gynecological principles and practices that is applicable to women students, including birth control concerns, care of gynecological illnesses, teachings good self-care to minimize problems.
- Knowledge of standards of medical care and accepted practice in the community.
- Knowledge of and skill in proper medical record charting to maintain appropriate quality assurance standards of the clinic.
- Ability to relate to and communicate with students to gain their confidence and cooperation in their care.
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff and peers to maintain a friendly, cooperative approach in the care of students.
- Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures.
- Knowledge of specialists in the community and facility available for appropriate referral as needed.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, other medical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement officers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
- Successful completion of an Accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current, active and unrestricted California Physician Assistant license and Certification.
- Maintains an active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification schedule III-V.
- Maintains current BLS/CPR (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- A certificate of completion from an approved controlled substance education course which meets the requirements of the California Code of Regulations section 1399.610 and 1399.612.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience.
Special Conditions:- Although this position's schedule is M-F during regular business hours, weekends or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In the case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours.
- Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.
- The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. The employee must comply with CDPH and UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception.
- Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
- This position may be expected to participate in delivering care services via a telehealth platform on-site or remotely up to 100% of the work day.
