The purpose of the Site General Manager is to lead and deliver manufacturing strategies, with the primary focus on operational management, driving and optimizing all processes to ensure consistently high levels of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity & People, implementing structures and systems to enable, maintain, and deliver the “One Chromalloy” business plan. The Site Leader will oversee all daily operations of the plant generating a culture of high performance through effective relationships and collaboration/alignment across all functions, ensuring accountability at all levels.
Leading a turbine aeroderivative engine and component MRO facility with 250 employees, delivering $65M of sales in 2024. The site has been expanded to offer turbine engine parts repair and overhaul, leasing services, work scope management, and module refurbishment. The 110,000-sq-ft San Diego facility features the only engine test cell on the West Coast that provides aeroderivative engine monitoring and evaluation.
Engine MRO services include:
- Hot section exchanges and overhauls
- Full gas generator and gas turbine overhauls
- Health check and engine evaluations
- Fuel nozzle repairs and evaluations
Component MRO services include:
- Seals
- Diaphragms
- Compressors
- Honeycomb
Primary Accountabilities:
Site & Culture
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to all employees and functional areas supporting the successful operations of the business. This includes collaborating with functional leaders within the Chromalloy matrix, requiring demonstrable skills in leading across a matrix.
- Communicate a compelling vision for the site and its role in delivering the One Chromalloy plan, engaging all employees in the expectations and opportunities across the business.
- Build a values and performance-based culture, ensuring that all employees embrace our values and standards; set clear goals/objectives, and support performance in role through real-time feedback, supported by the required training & development to succeed.
- Optimize operational performance through appropriate planning and deployment of resources including Capex, SIOP, Asset & Labor Utilization, Continuous Improvement, Productivity, OTD, and TAT, to lower the COPQ and cultivate a Safety-first culture.
- Build the Chromalloy brand by collaborating with customers, employees, community, and regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for P&L and operating levers that drive value creation, managing strategic choices to ensure growth, profitability, and cash objectives are met.
- Create and implement strategies for business growth, providing direction on new product and repair introductions. Manage sales execution in partnership with the President CMS, who is responsible for the commercial strategy for the site.
- Translate the strategy into tactical site plans that drive execution and successfully deliver against a robust budget and business plan, including cost management and the achievement of revenue targets.
People
- Collaborate with functional leads on the development of KPIs and align functional goals with departments and direct reports to realize individual, team, and site performance.
- Develop business-wide staffing strategies to execute and realize financial goals and customer expectations.
- Oversee the attraction, retention, development, and regulatory compliance of staff to enable key priorities to be delivered.
Operational
- Optimize operational performance through planning and deployment of Lean methodologies, Continuous Improvement, Productivity, and SIOP processes.
- Manage and ensure the capacity and resources are appropriate to meet the current and future states of the business.
- Drive turnaround time and on-time delivery improvement while also driving a safety and quality-first culture.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in engineering, business, finance, or another relevant area, ideally complemented by a graduate degree, such as a Master of Business Administration.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading turbine engines and component MRO with a proven track record of success in a leadership role with P&L management.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills in leading large teams through change
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry standards and certifications, including AS9100 and NADCAP.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing high-performing teams.
- Clear, strategic thinker with vision, with the ability to execute priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in the Aerospace or Defense Industry is preferred.
