Position Overview: The Vice President, Design Creative Director position is part of the Marketing team that serves as a marketing communications partner to NYCEDC's 25+ internal departments. The Design Creative Director stewards NYCEDC’s brand, positioning and promoting the company’s broad portfolio of projects and programs – contributing to our mission of creating a vibrant, inclusive, and globally competitive economy for all New Yorkers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with the SVP, Marketing to grow and evolve the overall NYCEDC brand and sub-brand architecture across all communications.
- Partner across the External Affairs division and NYCEDC divisions to establish content strategy and design for all marketing efforts, including:
- Integrated campaign development, brand and project design, digital and print advertising, out of home creative, report/research publication design, and informational/promotional collateral.
- Corporate templates and presentations to support impactful executive communications and strong brand identity.
- Oversee two professional designers (Assistant Vice Presidents) to maintain quality and integrity of design and execution.
- Execute design assignments as needed.
- Identify new opportunities, resources, tools, and techniques to enhance the creative product across all media channels.
- Collaborate with other Marketing area leads (Content, Planning and Operations) to incorporate marketing and creative principles into all communications.
- Partner with Vice President, Marketing Operations on creative schedules and deliverables, adjusting for competing/overlapping timelines.
- Support and develop a “Team Marketing” culture of growth and shared accountability.
- Develop talent; hire, manage, train, and motivate creative staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Design/Graphic Communications (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in creative design team leadership positions in marketing, advertising, or digital/integrated media.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communications design expertise, specifically in conceptualizing documents and presentations that support brand narratives.
- Experience in creating integrated marketing campaigns across print, out-of-home, digital, multimedia, social media, and other outlets.
- Experience with content management systems.
- Experience in high-profile project environments with multiple tasks, input from various sources, and variable deadlines.
- Experience in managing, coaching, and training designers and leading creative concept ideation within a creative team.
- New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire.
