Director, Civil Engineering

When you join Design Group as a Director, Civil Engineering, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
- Lead site engineering and A/E engineering project teams
- Develop and execute projects for our clients, with a focus on efficiency and high quality
- Assume responsibility for scope development, technical oversight, risk management, resource management, project leadership, and client leadership
- Develop and maintain client accounts
- Develop proposals that accurately and concisely define the scope of work in alignment with the client’s objectives
- Review design deliverables
- Seek input from the discipline leaders, project managers, and the construction team for lessons learned
- Recruit and mentor staff to improve their body of knowledge and capabilities in alignment with overall practice goals
- Encourage the individual growth and improvement of each team member
- Seek out and offer opportunities for team member growth and advancement
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
- 15+ years of experience in business development, operations management, project management, technical sales, technical services/applications engineering, A/E engineering consulting, and quality management
- 10+ years of experience in site development, civil engineering, and project management
- Preferred experience: manufacturing sector projects, with food, beverage, consumer packaged goods or life science facilities
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering site development projects from initiation to completion
- Experience working with in-house multi-discipline engineering & architecture, and construction management teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with our team members and clients
- Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
- A Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- A Master of Science in a related field (preferred)
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license
