Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join their team, specializing in predictive modeling and data analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a robust skill set in statistical analysis, data management, and educational data analytics. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, domain-specific knowledge, and exceptional communication skills to provide actionable insights that drive improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Develop and implement various regression models (linear, logistic, multiple) and other predictive techniques to analyze student success data and forecast outcomes.
- Utilize statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python) for data analysis and model development.
- Clean, preprocess, and normalize large datasets, ensuring data accuracy and reliability. Manage data integration from multiple sources using tools such as SQL, Azure Synapse, and Fabric.
- Apply knowledge of educational metrics, student success theories, and data governance to analyze factors influencing student outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards, including FERPA.
- Use programming languages (Python or R) and machine learning techniques to enhance predictive models.
- Create and present data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or ggplot2 in R to effectively communicate findings.
- Prepare and deliver clear reports and presentations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including educators and administrators, to apply statistical insights and improve student outcomes.
- Manage multiple data analysis projects, including planning, tracking progress, and meeting deadlines.
- Communicate project status and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Employ strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify patterns, make data-driven decisions, and develop innovative solutions to enhance student success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Educational Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and data management within an educational context.
- Proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata) and programming languages (Python or R).
- Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques and data visualization tools.
- Experience in a higher education environment is required.
- Excellent communication and consultative skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations, including FERPA, and a strong ethical framework for handling student data.
- Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
