Position Summary:
As Director of CO2 Strategy, you will develop and maintain the 10-year overall product strategy, the 3-year strategic plan (per plant/power zone) and the 1-year tactical actions that will increase the profitability of the CO2 business in North America. Additionally, the Director is accountable for the CO2 business profit performance for the US, communicate, coordinate and align the 10-year, 3-year and 1-year strategic and tactical plans with the rest of the organization, in particular with key stakeholders in Sales & Marketing and Operations. The Director is also responsible for business development & negotiations for new feed gas sources, along with purchase agreements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Long-term (10-year) and short term (3 years) strategy development for the CO2 business in North Americas including Capacity Planning by supply region and a plant relief/replacement analysis, along with monitoring macro-economic and regulatory trends impacting the business (such as competitors and feedgas industries) and adjusting Messer strategy for continued balance between supply and demand.
- Profit performance for the CO2 business – identifies opportunities for improvement and monitors/recommends pricing actions.
- Accountable for CO2 feedgas & source identification, validation and attainment, including support overall CO2 strategy in North America.
- Leads initial development of investment cases for new CO2 plants, based on CO2 strategy. Key interface with the Business development team and Fico as investment cases progress.
- Identifies strategic and profitable opportunities for competitive swaps, purchases, JVs, etc.
- Accountable for all CO2 feedgas and finished CO2 product commercial deals (coordination with Sr. Mgr Competitor Strategy).
- Provides business development/sales support on pricing, product availability and key commercial terms in accordance with the DOA.
- Commercialization DRI for Bulk CO2.
- Leads & manages cost-recovery initiatives (diesel, power and outage surcharges) for CO2 business.
- Development and support of tools including Pricing & profitability tools, Budgeting tools, TACT, Optimizer, etc.
- Key participant in the Sales & Operations planning process with Operations and Sales & Marketing.
- Develops annual revenue budget along with providing critical product input to the annual planning/budget process.
- Manage two direct reports.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Bachelor of Arts in Engineering or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in complex supply chain analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Messer's commercial and/or operations is a plus.
