Associate Business Unit Manager

We are looking for a results-oriented Associate Business Unit Manager to work directly with the Business Unit Managers to develop strategies for continued product growth and lead complex programs and projects throughout the program lifecycle; which includes contract pursuit and closure, design, development, qualification, and production of products. In this role, you would typically:
- Acts as a key point of contact for all customers, both OEM and Aftermarket, while proactively developing positive relationships and meeting customer demands.
- Drive process to develop quote and proposal responses to Customer inquiries, negotiate contracts, and enter and track new order bookings and forecast.
- Receives, investigates, and responds to all customer inquiries regarding shipments, requests for quotes, purchase orders, sales orders, and complaints.
- Manage the execution of awarded projects to the schedule and budget. Ensure relevant cost, schedule, and technical performance metrics are instituted at all levels in the project. Manage any scope creep and associated cost issues.
- Tracks data and provides monthly sales forecast/projections for business unit teams.
- Develop detailed schedules, program plans, contingency plans, risk mitigation plans, resource plans, project goals and milestones, budgets and deliverables.
- Create and implement technology classification and export authorization requirements as needed. Engage and provide guidance to export/import strategy determinations. Apply for and manage export licenses.
- Performs contract/purchase order review and ensures Purchase Order requirements are flowed down to appropriate parties.
We require:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- 3 years of experience in a leadership, account management, or project management role.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Eligibility Requirements:
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.
We would really like to see:
- Bachelor's degree in business or engineering is preferred.
- Experience in Aerospace manufacturing or a similar industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to execute on deliverables in a timely manner, managing against unpredictable variables.
- Prior experience working as a customer interface.
- Strong analytical and detailed process mindset and resourceful cross-functional approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of maintenance operations and external customer requirements.
- Capable of preparing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate detailed documentation necessary for contract performance, with experience preferred.
- Ability to perform forecasting, scheduling, pricing, warranty administration, and other related activity.
- High-level of energy and self-motivation.
- Ability to work without significant guidance.
- Proven negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Physical Requirements Include:
- Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work.
- Ability to interact and participate in meetings.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for a significant period and maneuver around the facility as needed.
- Manual dexterity, which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse, and write are required.
