Department Summary:
MITRE Lab’s Energy, Environmental, Material and Chemical Sciences Department serves as a vanguard for MITRE to meet the future needs of our customers, requiring technical excellence while encouraging creativity and fostering interests in current and emerging technologies across its diverse employees. Your future colleagues are a collegial team of chemists, energy and environmental engineers, material scientists, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, physicists, and civil engineers who work across MITRE’s diverse sponsors and partners.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work on a variety of chemistry related projects for a range of MITRE sponsors performing basic and applied research, informing sponsors as to current and future applications and capabilities, and devising new solutions for sponsor challenges.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary experts from across MITRE, our customers, and partners, providing subject matter expertise in chemistry and chemical sensing or associated technologies.
- Frame and communicate technology performance to sponsors.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related fields or a Master’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in Chemistry or related fields or a PhD in Chemistry or related fields.
- Deep technical expertise in chemistry or related fields.
- Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to design and conduct experiments.
- Desire to develop new proficiencies.
- The ability to work in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers.
- Critically think and proactively guide research and troubleshooting.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Regulatory and drug development experience.
- Experience with analytical equipment and data analysis.
- Experience with FDA submissions and regulations or reviewing clinical data.
- Develop SOPs and review characterizations of novel materials or pharmaceutical products.
- Proven background in experimental design and analytical analysis.
- Ability to pivot quickly and work independently or with a team.
- Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
