Location:
Based in Lewis County & Grays Harbor Regions in Washington. This position is primarily remote but requires on-site presence on a regular basis at our branches and businesses in that area.

Full-time, Regular, Exempt
Pay Range:
The full pay range is $76,859 – $115,288 (dependent upon knowledge, skills, and abilities). In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available. Incentives targets vary by role.
We provide an additional $2.00 per hour bilingual differential for those employees who are able to support our members’ financial needs effectively in a second language; subject to verification of strong grasp of financial terms utilizing language skillset.

We are seeking a Small Business Development Officer to join our team! This position develops and cultivates new small business relationships and provides products and services to existing and prospective members including loans, deposits, and ancillary services. Participates in and coordinates community initiatives that support the strategic direction of the organization in the assigned region to help achieve small business goals and increases visibility of the credit union.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Ensures small business products are offered and provides feedback on the products to support overall strategy and goals for the small business market.
- Grows business membership by working with local branch staff, lending teams, business development officers, and marketing to generate leads and increase visibility within the assigned market.
- Builds a portfolio of small business loans and deposits within assigned area.
- Stays abreast of industry knowledge, competitive offerings, innovative products, and changes in assigned markets.
- Develops, builds, and maintains effective strategies to manage business member relationships, anticipate needs and provide a superior level of service.
- Compiles monthly and quarterly sales and activities report and presents it to the Small Business Program Manager.
- Maintains monthly, quarterly, and annual loan and deposit goals and other small business program goals as assigned by Small Business Program Manager.
- Identifies, analyzes and markets to mid-tier and large commercial deposit prospects; as well as, small business lending prospects, through a variety of networking methodologies and community involvement within the Credit Union’s footprint.
- Acts as liaison with assigned credit union branches and Small Business Program Manager to assist with sales, mentorship, and training for credit union employees.
- Meets with assigned branch staff, members and prospects monthly and helps to plan business development activities/events as instructed by the Small Business Program Manager.
- Assists Small Business Program Manager with the presentation of loans to credit underwriting for approval and processing including prescreening requests to determine alignment with lending policy.
- Partners with Business Relationship Managers, Mortgage Loan Officers, Financial Advisors, and Branch Managers and refers inquiries to the appropriate department or representative and provide the necessary follow through with members and/or staff involved to ensure a seamless transition and enhanced member experience.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- High school diploma (GED equivalent).
- Two (2) years’ experience in business development, sales and/or banking.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or Banking preferred.
Demonstrated Abilities:
- Ability to conduct business development activities.
- Ability to meet and exceed sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Demonstrated experience in consumer and small business lending.
- Demonstrated experience working for a financial institution or similar organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and exceptional client service skills.
- Knowledge of client retention, building pipelines, and market growth.
- Skilled at partnering with branch teams, other departments, and business partners to achieve goals.
- Will work in Branch Space, Corporate Office, meeting with Businesses and can work remote as needed with Manager approval.
Benefits & Other Compensation:
This position is eligible for coverage under the credit union’s group welfare benefits program the first of the month following your date of employment. The benefits program includes coverage paid in full by the credit union, benefits which employees share in the cost, and voluntary coverage. Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Coverage covered at 100% by the credit union includes Basic Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance, Long-Term Disability, and Travel Accident Coverage. Employees share in the cost of Medical Insurance, which also includes Dental and Vision coverage. Employees also have the option to elect voluntary coverage for Life/AD&D, Short-Term Disability, and AFLAC at 100% of the cost.
The credit union offers the utilization of Flexible Spending (FSA), Dependent Care (DCA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) that are set up to reimburse you with pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare and/or dependent care costs. Eligibility to contribute towards one of these savings accounts is effective with the medical insurance enrollment, based on the type of medical coverage selected.
Full-Time Regular employees accrue 8 hours of vacation and 8 hours of sick leave, on a monthly basis. Full-Time Regular hired employees also receive 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, 1 floating holiday, 16 hours of self-care time, and 16 hours of volunteer time.
