The Senior Director of UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Business Development will be responsible for driving inorganic growth strategies in support of UHC’s overall strategy. This role will be accountable for developing and evaluating a range of inorganic growth opportunities such as acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, and investments. This leader will also support special projects across the enterprise leading to growth and innovation. This leader will be expected to interface with executive leaders within the organization and across the enterprise and will report to the UnitedHealthcare VP of Business Development.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify market trends, changes in competitive landscape, and new regulatory conditions that create emerging opportunities or disrupt UnitedHealthcare’s strategic positioning.
- Oversee the development of research to inform innovative, industry-leading strategies, development and/or M&A initiatives.
- Build diversified long-term pipeline of inorganic growth opportunities that align to business objectives.
- Support execution of M&A activities and integration planning of acquired businesses.
- Engage with executive stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure that UnitedHealthcare priorities are achieved.
- Lead key projects and priorities across UnitedHealthcare, including growth efforts and strategic initiatives, managing program governance, interdependencies, estimates and resource allocation.
- Build relationships and effectively interface with UHG constituents across functions, including corporate development, marketing, sales, product, human resources, finance and operations departments.
- Contribute strategic thought leadership and analytical rigor to important business decisions.
- Support continuous improvement of UHC business development processes.

Required Qualifications:
- BA.
- 7+ years of experience in M&A or corporate strategy.
- 3+ years of M&A and partnership deal-making background with experience in deal sourcing, cultivating relationships with target companies, due diligence, modeling, negotiating and closing transactions and post-merger integration management activities.
- Ability to develop an acquisition strategy aligned to corporate objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Highly organized: accurately scopes out projects, sets objectives and goals, develops schedules and resource assignments, measures performance against goals, and evaluates results.
- Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity - can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty in a manner consistent with UnitedHealth Group’s core values.
- High ethical standards; excellent judgment; personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree.
- 5+ years of prior experience in healthcare, managed care, and/or financial services.
- Experience influencing and collaborating across a matrixed organization.
- Consistent track record of identifying, evaluating, and executing successful M&A transactions and/or strategic partnerships.
- Highly strategic thinker with a deep understanding of market dynamics and industry trends.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
