Position Overview
The Director, Alliance Partnership and Open Innovation – Microbiology for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for global partnership management and business development. This person will identify solutions to support our portfolio as well as build and execute partnership strategies to drive growth of existing product offerings and successful market entry of new products. They will partner with Product Management, Global Commercial Marketing, Scientific Affairs, R&D, and our commercial sales teams to increase market share across the entire portfolio while ensuring targeted solutions based on customer segmentation.
This position is part of the Microbiology Operating Company within Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and will be based onsite at our Sacramento, CA location.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead market research to assess current and future market conditions, competitive product, and changing customer/prospect dynamics to influence new product development and opportunities for open innovation and partnership linked to portfolio strategy.
- Own identification, development, and management of third-party solutions and partnerships inclusive of business reviews, business models, go-to-market strategy, etc.; drive negotiations and contract terms to develop new products and expand portfolio.
- Secure approval for initiation of new products into the BEC Microbiology portfolio at quarterly Strategic Innovation Reviews from cross-functional leadership teams; drive Launch Excellence with new product introductions.
- Monitor competitor movement, find gaps, differentiators, and areas of growth and focus; through this competitive analysis and market research, build strategies to ensure effective market positioning and drive growth.
- Refine user needs and design inputs to ensure products are competitive and function as intended according to standards set by Beckman Coulter and external governing bodies.
- Responsible for worldwide revenues, margin, and growth of the product lines in line with market penetration targets that drive core growth.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or similar discipline with fourteen or more years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with twelve years of professional experience OR Doctoral degree with nine or more years of professional experience.
- Professional experience should include business development, partnership management, product management, and mentoring.
- Experience working with global teams with strong cultural awareness.
- Diagnostics industry experience; medical device products preferred.
- Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) 15-20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Microbiology (Clinical Diagnostics and Clinical Microbiology).
- Experience working in a Healthcare regulated Product Development and Sales environment, e.g., FDA, IVD.
- Danaher Business Systems (DBS).
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $170,000-$200,000. This is the range that we believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
