CMHA is looking to hire a Medical Director. This position will be located in New Britain.
Summary: The CMHA Medical Director is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric and medical care to all clients, adhering to best practices. This role involves collaboration with program staff and interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs and contribute to the development of effective treatment plans, with a focus on pharmacology management. The Clinical Supervisor provides oversight and clinical supervision for all CMHA service programs that offer direct client care, including supervision of psychiatric and medical practitioners. Additionally, the supervisor works closely with medical staff and other agency personnel to meet client needs while ensuring compliance with the agency budget, State of Connecticut licensing requirements, and Joint Commission standards. The position requires availability during scheduled hours and on-call support as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical supervision and oversight to all CMHA direct care program and medical staff in accordance with agency policy and procedure, up through and including peer review and auditing procedures.
- Ensures proper psychiatric medical care and coverage for all agency services.
- Actively participates in team meetings, program evaluation, risk management and Performance Improvement functions in consultation with the Performance Improvement Department, Senior Management Team and other agency leaders by participating in various committee meetings/work groups as scheduled or by being on-call.
- Reviews, develops and implements best practices as they relate to medical management of agency clients in compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- Provides continuing staff development and training through case reviews and in-services as indicated.
- Works in concert with the COO to ensure the quality of clinical services and managing the clinical risk taken on by the organization with focus in mitigation of risk.
- Oversees the integration, coordination and quality of clinical services provided to high-risk clients served at the agency.
- Directs and oversees implementation of critical incident management.
Requirements:
- MD degree from an accredited medical school with specialty in related psychiatric field.
- Licensure in the State of Connecticut. Board certification and/or eligibility for certification in psychiatry with specialty appropriate for client population.
- Must be able to prescribe Buprenorphine.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 5 years post residency experience in the provision of psychiatric assessment and medication evaluation of the full range of psychiatric disorders as identified in the DSM-V.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the provision of clinical supervision to medical and nursing staff or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in or the ability and willingness to learn how to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system including: appointment scheduling, authorization tracking, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries.
Annual compensation starting range: Min-$275k - Mid-$325k - Max $375k. Starting salary will be determined based on relevant years of experience.
