SALARY: $160,000-$180,000
ABOUT PURPOSE BUILT COMMUNITIES
Purpose Built Communities (“Purpose Built”) is an incubator, convener, and catalyst for social change at the neighborhood level. Purpose Built is a philanthropically-funded nonprofit organization that partners with local leaders–its Network Members–to design, direct, and accelerate neighborhood transformation initiatives across the United States so residents can experience greater racial equity, improved health outcomes, and increased upward mobility.
Purpose Built provides pro-bono guidance, coaching, and support to these local leaders, their staff, and stakeholders in implementing and growing a holistic model of revitalization in their neighborhoods. Together with Purpose Built’s Network Members and strategic partners, Purpose Built believes every neighborhood should have affordable, high-quality mixed-income housing, excellent schools that keep student success in life and in the classroom central, inclusive spaces that nurture and enrich residents’ physical and mental health and foster a sense of belonging, and a thriving commercial core that keeps the neighborhood economically vibrant.
Purpose Built supports 27 Network Members with pro-bono services, including technical assistance, a robust Community of Practice, racial equity programming, policy support, fundraising, and more.
ABOUT THE VICE PRESIDENT, NETWORK MEMBER SUCCESS ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Network Officer, the Vice President, Network Member Success is part of a team of relationship-oriented professionals who advise, counsel, and support Network Members in achieving impact in their neighborhoods and with their neighbors by successfully implementing Purpose Built’s model. This pivotal position will connect Network Members to internal and external experts and resources, which requires a comprehensive understanding of Purpose Built’s model and deep expertise in at least one component of the Purpose Built pillars.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Support for Network Members (45%)
- Effectively co-diagnose model implementation issues and prioritize individual Network Members’ needs through strategic questioning.
- Recommend and sequence Purpose Built’s offerings to align with the diagnosed needs of each Network Member.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and coach to specific Network Members to address emergent challenges.
- Leverage in-house and external expertise regarding Purpose Built’s pillars to provide leadership support to Network Members.
Relationship Building with Network Members (25%)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Network Members, collaborating regularly with organizational leaders.
- Work with other Network Member Success team members to foster a supportive community.
Strategic Partnership Cultivation (15%)
- Facilitate partnerships between public and private entities at the organizational level.
- Support community quarterbacks by offering resources about Purpose Built and network-wide priorities.
Special Projects and Initiatives (15%)
- Contribute to organizational initiatives or special projects leveraging broad knowledge of Purpose Built.
- In rare instances, serve as the lead for an organizational initiative or special project.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of experience, including 5+ years in nonprofit management.
- Experience with economic mobility or health outcomes is required.
- A deep understanding of nonprofit operations and challenges is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with diverse audiences.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$160,000-$180,000
