Job Summary
The Sr Director of Corporate & Commercial Credit Products is responsible for developing, applying, and enhancing 1st line of defense credit risk analysis for Corporate & Commercial Banking in support of the overall Corporate Risk Management framework. Directs a team of Commercial Loan Underwriting and Credit Managers and ensures individual loans and the overall portfolio are properly risk graded. Oversees the evaluation and monitoring of the Corporate & Commercial credit risk, emerging opportunities, and threats for the portfolios. Utilizes credit risk evaluation and portfolio analytics to prepare and deliver forward-looking analysis to senior management to ensure long-term alignment with the bank’s risk appetite.
Pay Range
$195,132.00 - $268,306.00 - $341,481.00
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees and manages the 1st line of defense credit underwriting and portfolio management team ensuring implementation of credit risk management strategies across customer lifecycle.
- Develops credit strategies to improve the credit performance by leveraging data, models and advanced analytics tools to optimize credit underwriting and portfolio management decisions.
- Manages implementation and associated controls for underwriting, line management and targeting criteria with internal tech and vendor systems.
- Partners with Relationship Managers and product partners to deliver product and revenue objectives, while working directly with external bank clients to accomplish same.
- Partners with second line of defense risk management (Credit Risk) in developing business wide key credit risk and early warning indicators.
- Monitors portfolio by customer segments, provides input to overall profitability and adjusts credit strategies to deliver business goals within risk appetite framework.
- Works with legal and compliance team to ensure strategies and policies comply with all the regulatory requirements.
- Provides credit risk reporting and analysis for the portfolios.
Additional Accountabilities
- Performs special projects, to include continuous improvement and transformation initiatives, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Recruiting, developing, and training top credit underwriting and portfolio management talent.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Business, Economics or related field.
- Minimum experience required: 12+ Years of 1st line of defense credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management experience within the Financial Industry including credit strategy and credit analytics.
- 5+ years of experience in managing teams of credit analysts, underwriters in commercial and/or commercial specialty verticals.
- Experience and expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit and cash flow modeling for underwriting and portfolio management decisions, income/identity verification and loss forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent).
Job Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations related to credit decisions.
- Expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit modeling for underwriting and portfolio management decisions, income/identity verification and loss forecasting.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required including the ability to translate analysis into clearly defined and supportable strategies and policies.
- Expertise operating at a strategic level as part of a senior management team. Demonstrates awareness of the industry across the markets served and incorporate that knowledge into analysis and strategy recommendations.
- Proven ability to meet tight timelines, estimate level of effort, multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Strong team building and leadership skills.
