The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services.
The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Description
Job Title: OCYF Clinical Director
Pay Grade: M
Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop OCYF's clinical strategies, ensuring alignment with DBHDD's mission and vision.
- Foster positive relationships with partner agencies, contracted providers, and community stakeholders to drive collaborative efforts.
- Oversee and manage diverse, high-priority projects and initiatives, with a focus on emerging trends and needs.
- Research, document, and address quality of care concerns to improve service standards.
- Work closely with contracted providers to ensure effective admission and discharge planning.
- Represent OCYF in clinical and quality review meetings both internally and externally.
- Review clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary and treatment team meetings.
- Monitor contract deliverables and ensure they meet specified goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven leadership and team-building abilities, with experience in managing and coaching staff.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in utilizing data to drive operational improvements and assess outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present effectively at all levels.
- Executive presence with the ability to interact with clinical, administrative, and managerial staff.
- In-depth understanding of public behavioral health systems and payer roles.
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments and areas without direct reporting lines to achieve program goals.
- Strong knowledge of mental health clinical operations.
- Skilled in planning and facilitating multi-disciplinary meetings and workgroups.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Active, unrestricted, and independent license (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT)
- 10+ years of professional experience, with clinical licensure and at least 5 years of clinical practice in the mental health field.
- 5+ years of experience in clinical operations leadership.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Clinical operations experience within the State of Georgia or other public sector agencies/entities.
