Deputy Inspector General for Mission Support (Chief Financial Officer)

Summary: This position is located in the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) Office of Mission Support (OMS). The incumbent also serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to the Inspector General, with supervisory control over the Office of Mission Support (OMS). OMS is responsible for providing the tools and infrastructure to aid TIGTA's functional offices in executing the mission of the organization and delivering on business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and provide leadership and professional advice to TIGTA on human resources, logistics, financial, and other administrative and management matters.
- Formulate the TIGTA budget submission and oversee the execution of the TIGTA financial plans.
- Coordinate strategic plans and objectives, and independently assess organizational accomplishments.
- Recommend policies related to any assigned program areas.
- Serve as TIGTA's CFO; directly supervise the Assistant Inspector General for Mission Support with oversight of TIGTA's human capital, learning and development, strategic performance, facilities, finances, procurement, physical and personnel security, and other program management services.
- Assist in providing executive leadership in activities designed to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in the programs and operations within the purview of TIGTA.
- Ensure that Office of Mission Support written products effectively convey thoughts, analysis of facts, and conclusions in a clear, concise, and accurate presentation, including ensuring written products are complete, technically sound, fully coordinated, grammatically correct, and consistent with TIGTA's Style Guide.
- Be held accountable for the success of human capital, learning and development, strategic performance, facilities, finances, procurement, physical and personnel security, and other program management services; monitor the progress toward organizational goals and periodically evaluate to assess accomplishments and goals.
- Participate in the development of TIGTA objectives, policies, and plans to establish financial and administrative management programs.
- Represent TIGTA at high-level executive briefing sessions with other Government officials and Congress, and key intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
Requirements:
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector, or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. - Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- Per the Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 Section 1103(b)(7)(j), requires the IG, Deputy IG for Auditing, Deputy IG for Investigations, or any other Deputies not to have been employees of IRS during the 2-year period preceding their date of appointment, or during the 5-year period following the date the person's employment ended with TIGTA.
